Six essential games all PlayStation VR owners must have
The Sony PlayStation VR launch is here, and we’re set to give you a heads up on the top games that will let you get the most out of your new virtual reality system. From games that fully immerse you in their 3D worlds, to puzzlers that make you feel like you’re living in the future, these are the games that will be turning heads and blowing minds.
Batman: Arkham VR
Live out your fantasy of being the World’s Greatest Detective in Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham VR. Players explore the rooftops and alleyways of Gotham City as the caped crusader with unprecedented realism thanks to the PlayStation VR. Not only will you put on Batman’s cowl, but also his utility belt, packed with tools to help you solve a mystery in the dark and lethal DC universe. Simply reach down to your waist to grab your forensic scanner, Batarangs or grappling hook!
RIGS Mechanized Combat League
In the not-so-distant future, the most popular sport involves giant mechs battling each other in front of massive crowds. Battle for glory in RIGS Mechanized Combat League, through three match types: Power Slam, Endzone, and Team Takedown. With 24 different rigs in the game, it’s easy to find one to fit your playstyle. Each has its own unique loadout and ability, so make sure to give them all a try before taking on your friends!
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
A scary on-rails shooter, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood throws players into a nightmarish carnival ride. Enemies attack from the shadows and it’s up to you to get the baddies before they get you. While you can play with the traditional PlayStation 4 controller, you’ll find the two pistols are much more fun to control with dual Move controllers, allowing for independent aiming or flashlight direction. Will you survive? Only one way to find out!
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – Kitchen demo
Virtual reality is an amazing way to experience horror games. Taking place in a condemned farmhouse, the Resident Evil 7 Biohazard – Kitchen teaser is terrifying. Making use of the popular found-footage storytelling method used in film, this title is incredibly effective at setting the tone. Show off your bravery by playing alone in your house, or put the headset on a friend and watch them jump.
Get ready to upgrade your driving situation, because Driveclub VR allows you to sit behind the steering wheel of 80 of the most amazing cars in the world. With some of the best graphics we’ve seen so far for PlayStation VR, you’ll feel like you’re actually driving a car. Look into the rearview mirror or out the window — you’re really in there. Race against opponents, or enjoy a leisurely drive in “Cruise Control” mode on one of the games 114 tracks.
Simple but addictive, Tumble VR will challenge you with its physics-based puzzles. What starts off as basic tower-building becomes much, much more as you incorporate different textures, surfaces, and shapes — like the deviously slippery glass objects. The entire game feels like you’re in the future, making small micro-adjustments to carefully balance and rotate the virtual pieces. Quick to pick up, but difficult to master, you’ll find yourself happily going back time and time again to achieve gold.
